The Captain Jack Peterson Dog Park is welcoming New Bedford residents who retain an active dog license to renew or apply for new membership as of January 1, 2019. Applications are available in the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall Monday through Friday, 8am - 4pm.

Current resident members do not need to purchase a new fob, and can expect to pay $25 for an annual membership. New resident applicants will need to purchase a fob for entry to the dog park for a one-time fee of $15 in addition to the annual membership fee of $25.

In 2019, non-residents may become members for $35 for the year. These fees are in addition to the $15 charge for the key fob.

All residents and non residents must apply/reapply at the City Clerk’s office with a copy of a current dog license, immunization record, and neuter or spay confirmation.

The dog park features an enclosed area safe for canines to play, socialize, and learn off-leash. The park is named for Captain Jack Peterson, a long time radio host and favorite local personality who was an avid animal lover. It is located next to Keith Middle School on Hathaway Boulevard, between Greenwood Street and Ruggles Street. The park is managed by the Friends of the Dog Park in collaboration with the City’s Parks Recreation & Beaches Department.

More information about membership is available on Facebook at facebook.com/Captain-Jack-Peterson-Dog-Park, as well as the City of New Bedford’s web site and at Parks Recreation & Beaches.

Memberships and key fobs can both be purchased at the City Clerk’s Office. Please allow 2-5 business days for fob to be activated.

A complete list of rules and regulations is available on the City of New Bedford’s website.
